WEDNESDAY 7TH OCTOBER | THE CATALYST, NEWCASTLE | 100 SEATS, NOT ONE MORE

Imagine leaving an event more known than when you arrived.

Known by people who understand what you do well enough to say your name when you are not there.

Known. Trusted. Referred.

That is what this whole day is designed to do. Every talk, every table, every minute of the ninety-minute lunch and the connection breaks, built to do exactly that.

We built The Edge because blending in at events is expensive. It's time to stop paying that price.

We need to talk about business events.

Actually no. We need to talk about what events have done to you personally.

The ticket. The train. The queue. The other queue. The sales pitch that appeared mid-sentence like

a surprise invoice. The fourteen-minute break that was over before you had found the loo.

And you travelled home. Knackered. Full of someone else's ideas. Empty of anything that actually

moved.

And you thought: there has to be something better than this.

There is. You are reading about it.

What you'll leave The Edge with

01 - Your name in more mouths

Known. Trusted. Referred. That is the real ROI of The Edge. We designed the day specifically for this.

02 - Talks you can actually use

Fresh thinking and actionable talks, built just for The Edge and headlined this year by the multi-award-winning Andrew and Pete, who embody every word of that brief.

03 - At least one conversation that moves something

You will know which one, because we bake the conversations into the day.

04 - A community that outlasts the day

Free monthly online get-togethers through The Edge Network, so you keep making business friends all year.

Three things we're passionate about

(even though everyone says that)

And that's exactly why we built The Edge.

Croissants only. Donuts need not apply ...

We have a philosophy at The Edge, it's why people love to attend, and we call it the Croissant Code of Conduct. It's really simple:

🥐 The Croissant 🥐

Croissants walk in open. Curious. They talk to the person standing on their own, because they have been the person standing on their own. They leave with three real conversations, not thirty business cards, and they introduce people who should know each other.

🍩 The Donut 🍩

Donuts close the circle. Talk at you for nine minutes about their podcast. Never ask your name. The Donut does not connect. The Donut calculates whether you are worth talking to.

In a world full of donuts, be a croissant.

A day designed to get you remembered

  • No beige talks. Every talk is new, built for this event, and actionable. No recycled keynotes. Noselling from stage. You leave with things you can use in your business in real time.

  • The lunch is the event. Ninety minutes. The biggest connection window of the day. And the food will be good. (Ask us about the dry baked potato we once had to eat. We are still not over it.)

  • Speakers at the tables. No green rooms. No us and them. The follow-up conversation your talk deserved happens over lunch. Nobody is above anyone else here.

  • Come alone. You won't stay alone. There is a greeter at the door for anyone arriving solo, missions to break the ice, and movement built into the day. Nobody gets left at the edge. It is in the name. We take it personally.

  • Business Friends with Benefits. We could call it networking. We are not going to. We bake connection time into the whole day so you make business friends. Real ones. The kind who know what you do well enough to recommend you when you are not in the room.

Check out what others are saying ...

(Just like Tinder swipe left to see more lol 😉)

What To Expect

Here’s how the day unfolds:

Morning (9:00 – 10:00) Business Friends with Benefits

You arrive, the room opens, and the conversations start before the session does. This is where you grab a cup of coffee, and you get to know the people in the room.

Morning (10:00 – 12:00)

The session starts and the morning is built around fresh thinking - speakers who have built talks specifically for this room.

No beige content. Ideas that actually land.

Midday (12:00 – 13:30)

The lunch is the event. Ninety minutes.

Speakers at the tables. No hierarchy, no disappearing acts.

This is where the best conversations happen - the ones that turn into collaborations, referrals, and opportunities six months down the line.

We've paid hundreds of pounds for a business event ticket and been handed a dry baked potato. That doesn't happen here.

Afternoon (13:30 – 16:30)

The energy builds.

A panel conversation designed to challenge your thinking, sharpen your ideas, and help you see your business differently.

And the Bold Debrief where the room comes back together and the best stories from the day's Bold Missions get told.

Spoiler: they're never from the stage.

Closing (16:30 – 17:00)

Final connections. Last conversations. The moment things land and you realise what's shifted. You leave knowing exactly what you're doing next and with people who now know exactly what you do.

Optional VIP Dinner

For those staying on, the evening is where the day deepens. Smaller. More relaxed.

The kind of conversation that only happens when the pressure is off and the right people are still in the room.

This is where the deep relationships develop.

The people in the room matter. So do the people on stage.

Why This Room Works

Here's what we know after years of being in the wrong rooms.

The value was never just on the stage. It was always in the people. In the conversation that started over lunch. The introduction that turned into an opportunity six months later. The person you nearly didn't speak to who ended up changing something.

That's what The Edge is designed around. Not content for content's sake. Not networking left to chance.
A room where the right people are in it, the conditions for real conversation are built in, and nobody gets left standing awkwardly at the edge.

We say your name when you're not in the room. That's the whole point.

Come and get known.

Why now?

Still here? Good. This bit's for you.

You've read this far because something landed. Maybe it was the room. Maybe it was the lunch. Maybe it was the simple fact that someone finally built an event that doesn't treat connection as an afterthought squeezed between talks.

Whatever it was - that feeling is the point.

The Edge exists for the business owner who is genuinely good at what they do and genuinely tired of being the best kept secret in the room.
Who has tried showing up more, posting more, saying the right things in the right formats and is still somehow blending in.

One day in the right room changes that.

Not because of magic. Because of the specific combination of the right people, real conversations, and an environment designed to make those conversations happen - with Bold Missions, ninety-minute lunches, speakers at the tables, and nobody above anyone else.

You'll leave with your name in more mouths than when you walked in. Known by people who understand what you do well enough to say it when you're not there.

That's the real ROI of The Edge.

The room holds 100 people. It won't be open forever.

Come and get known.

Accessibility & Experience

This event is open to everyone. The only thing we don't tolerate is donut energy.

Different voices, different backgrounds, different experiences - that's not a nice-to-have. It's what makes the room work.

We've designed The Edge Newcastle so you can show up fully as yourself from the moment you walk in:

  • Step-free access throughout the venue

  • Accessible toilets and gender-neutral facilities

  • Induction loop system in the theatre

  • Ramp access to the stage for speakers and contributors

  • Lift access to all floors, including quieter breakout spaces

  • Dedicated quiet areas available if you need time out during the day

  • Lunch and refreshments provided, with all dietary requirements catered for

  • Charging points available at every seat

  • Event recordings include captions, with BSL interpretation available on request

The Practical Bits

The Venue: The Catalyst is a contemporary, light-filled venue surrounded by cutting-edge business, science and enterprise. This modern setting reflects ambition, progress and forward-thinking ideas.

Getting there: Road, rail and air. Newcastle is better connected than people down south like to admit.

Let’s be honest, Newcastle isn’t “miles away”. It’s surprisingly easy to get to, and the room is worth the train.

London King's Cross to Newcastle - around 2 hours 40 minutes.

Birmingham New Street - under 3 hours.

Manchester - roughly 2 hours 30.

Edinburgh - barely over an hour.

Glasgow - just over 2 hours on a direct train.

That’s a couple of podcasts, a coffee, maybe answering a few emails, and you’re here. No airports. No long transfers. Straight into the city centre.

The only real question isn't "Is it too far?" It's "Why wouldn't I?"

Staying over:  There are loads of great places to stay. We've even put together a guide, from Budget to Boujee

The sensible questions:

Who is The Edge Newcastle for?

Established business owners who are good at what they do and tired of being the best kept secret in the room.

You've got the experience, the results, the testimonials - but not enough of the right people properly know you yet.

This is not for complete beginners. And it's not for donuts. You know which one you are.

What are the start times?

Tha main event will start 9am and the day will be complete at 5pm.

If you are a VIP ticket holder there will be dinner provided in the evening at a seperate venue.

Is lunch provided?

Yes. And not a sad desk sandwich either.

Lunch is ninety minutes, included in your ticket, and we cater for all dietary requirements - just let us know when you book.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. Full details are in the accessibility section above.

Any specific needs, email hello@theedgeevent.com and we'll make it work.

How is this different from other business events?

Ninety-minute lunch. Speakers at the tables. Bold Missions. A Bold Debrief. No beige talks.

No toilet-queue networking. No hierarchy. Nobody disappears after their session.

If you've been to the kind of event where you drove home knackered and empty, this is the opposite of that.

What if I don’t know anyone?

Good. Neither does almost everyone else walking in.

You're not stepping into a room of established cliques, you're stepping into a space designed from the ground up for conversation.

There's someone at the door for people arriving alone. Nobody gets left standing awkwardly at the edge.

Will this actually help my business?

That depends on you showing up as a croissant.

If you're open, curious and willing to have the conversations you'd normally talk yourself out of - yes.

You'll leave with your name in more mouths, clearer on what makes you different, and with people who now know what you do well enough to say it when you're not there.

Where is the event held?

The Catalyst, Newcastle upon Tyne - in the heart of the city's innovation district. Easily accessible by public transport, with parking and hotels nearby.

Will the event be recorded?

Yes. All speaker sessions will be recorded.

VIP and virtual ticket holders get 3 months access to the recordings.

Can I transfer my ticket if I can’t make it?

Tickets are non-refundable but transferable to someone else at face value.

Email hello@theedgeevent.com at least 48 hours before the event and we'll sort it.

What happens if tickets sell out?

The room holds 100 people and we won't be adding more. When it's full, it's full - that's the point.

One last thing.

That rough, weird, specific thing about you that you have been quietly sanding

down to sound more professional? That is your thing.

The people who get remembered are not the most polished people in the room.

They have an edge. Distinctly, unapologetically theirs.

Find your edge. Own your edge. Don't get left at the edge.
